Fundació Joan Miro

Museum of one of the best and famous modern artists of Spain, Joan Miro (1893-1983).
He developed a surrealistical style with lively colours and fantastic forms which makes you think of dreams. Many of his works can be seen in the museum.

Pueblo Español

In this "Spanish Village" all the architectural styles of Spain are represented in the 116 houses.
It was built for the World Exhibition of 1929.

Olympic Stadium

New Olympic Stadium and very modernistic Basketball Stadium which were built for the Olympics of 1992 on top of Montjuïc.
Nowadays the second football club F.C. Español plays its home games there and the Basketball stadium is used for these and other events.

Montjuic Castle

This big 18th century castle on top of Montjuïc gives a beautiful view over the city and the harbour. The original castle is from 1640. In the civil war (1936-1939) it was a very important location to defend the city.
After the civil war it was used as a prison were a lot of left wings Catalans were imprisoned.

Botanical Garden

This is a beautiful garden with a lot of exotic plants on the slopes of the Montjuïc mountain.
It gives a beautiful view on the sea and the harbour.
