MACBA

The MACBA is the Museum of Contemporary Art. The impressive, spacious and daring white building (1995) of the American architect Richard Meier contrasts strongly with the structure and the buildings of the medieval neighbourhood Raval.

Plaça Catalunya

This is the most famous and biggest square of Barcelona which marks the end of the medieval city and were you enter the modernistic neighbourhood L´Eixample.
Detail is that the last president of the Cataluña before the civil war (1936-1939) was shot at the square by Franco´s men. A statue was raised on that place.

Cathedral

Beautiful Gothic Cathedral in the centre of the old city.
They started building the church in 1298 and it was only finished at the beginning of the 20th century. It has a beautiful cloister and a remarkably nice garden.

Palau de la Musica

This beautiful modernistic concert hall was build in 1908 by the architect Lluis Domenech y Muntaner.
It truly is a party of modernistic sculptures and stained glass. It still is used as a concert hall.

Picasso Museum

Museum of one of the most famous and important modern artist of Spain and Europe, Picasso (1881-1973).
The museum has a collection which gives a good overview of his work and with some of his masterpieces.
